[Success Tip] What’s Your Recipe for Success?

recipe-for-successStudies show that successful people have common traits and activities which not only contribute to their success but are imperative to achieving success. You could say it’s a recipe for success which, like a Betty Crocker cake mix, is tried and true.

Success Tip Determine your recipe for success and don’t trade or diminish the ingredients.

In working with my Executive Platinum Program Coaching clients in areas of Wealth, Weight, and Leadership, these are the crucial areas of focus in order to succeed:

  • Well-being (self-care)
  • Integrity (whole and complete, keeping promises, etc.)
  • Sabotage patterns (conscious and unconscious)
  • Context (perspectives and beliefs)
  • Relationship with self, others, and the world
  • Communication, connection, & relationship skills
  • Time management
  • Relationship with money, time, and stress
  • Vision and purpose
  • Forward momentum by combining being and being in action

Do you have a recipe for success? If so, which of these areas have you included in your recipe? Which of these areas is missing or weak? If you would like help with your Winning Recipe, please let me know.

Success Story:

We decide to do the O.W.L. Weight Loss Program as a couple because we both struggle with weight and wanted to be at a healthier weight. We support each other, we understand what the other person is going through, and we are eating the same foods. If you are both serious and committed about the program having a partner is one of the best tools around. We keep each other accountable, we support each other and we celebrate together.

[My Current Weight Loss Journey] Releasing the weight of clutter

Janis Pullen - QuotesThis week is a great time to assess the cost that clutter has in your life and to do something about it so you start the New Year fresh. I’m not talking about just messy house or messy office. I’m referring to the financial clutter and the clutter your head as well.

Clutter is anything that gets in the way of you being your most powerful, productive, and serene self. With financial clutter, you may not know what your bills are or how to pay them. With mental clutter, you may be confused or overwhelmed. With emotional clutter, you may have conflicting emotions or commitments.

Because I know that clutter interferes with my quality of life, I do several things regularly:

  1. At the beginning of each work day, set intentions for that day
  2. At the end of each work day, clean off my desk and prepare for the next day
  3. Have a place for everything, and put everything in its place (thank you, Grandma Mary!)
  4. Track my income and expenses weekly or more often
  5. Pay bills on the first of each month
  6. Hang out with people who love and support me; do not hang out with people who don’t
  7. Make complicated things simple (a gift I give to my clients)
  8. Have a “filing” basket and file once a month at least
  9. Practice what I teach in the Weight of Money Programs

What things can you think of the remove clutter from your life? Please share with us here.

    Success Story

Janis is a very gifted coach, combining her training with sensitivity and genuine intuitiveness. It gave me a true sense of security knowing she was ‘at my back.’ What’s more, she focused on all levels of my well-being, including some that I had sadly neglected. I felt I received much more than I paid for. Without hesitation I would recommend Janis to anyone needing a firm, but gentle, caring, and results-oriented coach.

[O.W.W.L. Success Tip] Pain-free networking

networking-imageI was the keynote speaker for Women Make a Difference networking luncheon last Friday and spoke on “The Weight of Money: 3 secretes to melting debt, fat, and stress NOW!” We had about 90 people in attendance. As I prepared for this event, I noticed how differently I approach networking and marketing events now compared to a few years ago. Previously, these events stirred up stress and anxiety. I was shy and lacked confidence. I was vague and confusing when sharing what I do. I talked with as many people as possible, tried to convince people they needed me, and had few or no prospective clients to show for it. I was exhausted when it was over, due to the anxiety. Since then, I have shifted my perspective and my actions, so networking/marketing events are now fun, easy, and productive!

[O.W.W.L. Success Tip] Approach every interaction with people from a mindset of “curiosity and discovery” and becoming visible.

Adopt a mindset that your prospective clients are already looking for you. They want what you offer and are willing to pay what you ask. You just don’t know who they are yet, but they are your “tribe.” So you get out there and meet people. You are curious. You ask silently, “Are you the one?” No? “Are you the one?” You don’t worry about those who are not your tribe; you continue being open to the discovery of who is. Most of all, you relax and have fun.

Summary: Pain-free networking involves four steps:

  • Show up,
  • Be curious & ask questions,
  • Discover your tribe,
  • Have fun

[Current Weight Loss Journey] I asked my photographer, “Can we meet weekly?”

I had professional photos done last Saturday to reflect my new “Courageous Autumn” colors I wrote to you about Thursday. Those photos will be published soon with a website makeover for you to see. However, I want to write today about how uplifted I felt by the owner of the Albuquerque studio, Kyle Zimmerman, and my photographer, Max. I even asked them if I could have a “session” with them weekly, realizing that this is what we all need to do for ourselves every day.

Upon my arrival, I felt intimidated and skeptical. I don’t consider myself pretty or photogenic. The last time I had professional photos done I cried before, during, and after the shoot. Now, several years later, I am older and saggy-er. (Is that a word?) So my trepidation was even stronger. Funny that I teach people to love themselves unconditionally, yet a photo shoot brings out my own deep insecurities.

But those insecurities subsided swiftly. What Max and Kyle did for me was to reflect the beauty that is within me and to get me to acknowledge it and to own it. I do that for others through coaching; they did it for me through colors, poses, and reaching into myself to bring out my personality. I had the experience of relaxing into the moment, playing with my various expressions, and listening to both of them exclaim continuous, positive compliments in my behalf.

So here’s what I encourage us all to do regularly: Be our own Kyle and Max! First, dress in your favorite colors and clothes. Then, look in the mirror and say, “Gorgeous! Fabulous! What a beauty! Give me everything you’ve got! Love me! Imagine something wonderful! “

You get the idea? Do it with play and passion. Do it with delight and excitement. Have fun. Be your own best admirer. Check out the quote below…

Playfully yours,
janis_sig

“I must learn to love the fool in me–the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my Fool.”

[Current Weight Loss Journey] Skin rashes, food, and referral partners

We all know, or we should know, that eating poorly contributes to a number of illnesses along with obesity, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, gallstones, arthritis, fibromyalgia, cancer, to name a few.  I have recently noticed a correlation between food and a recurring rash on my arm.

Usually I’m a pretty “clean” eater, but the last few weeks I have not been as diligent as usual and have consumed too many higher-glycemic foods.  What I notice is that I have developed a skin rash, self-diagnosed as a symptom of Candida.  (Learn more about Candida in my 30-minute Keep It Off Club interview by clicking the audio link in the side bar on the right side of this page.)

Since I believe we can heal many things through nutrition and movement, I corrected my eating plan last week, and already I have notice the rash decreasing in size and inflammation.  As a side benefit, I am gaining more energy, decreasing bloating, and dropping inches.

Want to know my eating plan?  Well, I resumed my O.W.L. Weight Loss Program Level 1 Food Program. In addition, I have decreased my dairy and caffeine to give my liver and adrenal glands a break.  (You can learn about the four O.W.L. food plans through the O.W.L. Weight Loss Programs and the O.W.L. Certification and Training Program.  Levels 1 and 2 are also included in What On Earth Am I Going To Eat Today?, available in the “Success Store” section of this site.

I’ll keep you posted on my progress.  Thank you for reading these posts.  I appreciate you being there.

Warmly,

Janis

P. S.  We are currently looking for referral partners who are as passionate as I am about helping people who struggle and suffer with excess weight.  If you would like to be a referral partner for the O.W.L. Weight Loss Programs or O.W.L. Weight Loss Certification Program, simply send an email to both Janis@JanisPullen.com and to your referral introducing us.  We will then have a Discovery Session to determine if the program is a good fit.  You also might choose to direct your referral to the “About” page of this site http://www.owlweightloss.com/about/  for more information about me.  If you would like more information about our referral program and how you will generate extra income from it, please let me know.
