Keep the Weight Off Forever

[Current O.W.W.L. Journey] I have given birth! You can join the debut party!

Lose Weight For Life by Janis PullenI am so excited to be presenting my new “baby” to the world: my book! Lose Weight for Life will officially launch tomorrow, Friday, May 15, and we hope to have so many people buy to tomorrow that it becomes a best seller right out of the chute. Visit www.LoseWeightforLife.com for both paperback and e-book options. I would love suggestions on how to celebrate this accomplishment.

As you may know, my main reason for writing this book was to highlight my nine Ontological Wealth, Weight, and Leadership Sabotage Patterns and how to eliminate them. Although the book was written specifically for weight loss, the patterns themselves are applicable to all areas of life. Clinical psychologist, coach, author, and speaker Gail Feldman, PhD, wrote,

“I love the book and am recommending it to everyone, not just those who want to lose weight.”

Speaking of sabotage patterns, if you didn’t get a chance to register for my free teleclass yesterday, you can still listen to it. Please also share with those you know and love, especially with coaches, health professionals, and prospective coaches so that they may help others. Visit the Ultimate Coach Teleclass to obtain the recording.

My mission is to help those who suffer and struggle with weight. I do this by training coaches and health professionals in my work. Together we can change lives!

Excited!

P. S. The free teleclass is a MUST to hear. It covers the three areas that make my heart sing: weight loss sabotages, building businesses, and making money. Receive the replay at Ultimate Coach Teleclass.

P. P. S. My new book debuts this Friday, May 15, at www.LoseWeightforLife.com. The advance endorsements were extraordinary! You can help the book be a best-seller on that day! Thank you in advance.

Success Story:

[This book] demonstrates real insights into the emotional issues around weight loss and gives keys to make lasting change. By understanding how to shift self-sabotaging patterns, you will be able to get out of your own way and set the stage for successful and lasting weight loss.

[Current OWWL Journey] 5:30 am doesn’t work, so I quit!

Janis Pullen QuotesWell, you read in the last couple of Thursday blog posts about my book-writing journey on my O.W.L. Lose Weight for Life book. My inner critic was stalling me from writing, and the letter I wrote to/from her got me back on track.

My next obstacle was my schedule. Since my inner critic suggested I write more often and more consistently, I planned to write at 5:30 every week day, since my schedule was very full already. Last week after returning from a coaching conference in Tucson, I began, setting the alarm each morning.

Problem: I am a night owl – no pun intended on O.W.L. So 5:30 am was REALLY TOO EARLY. I have always been of the opinion that if God intended us to rise at that hour, sunrise would occur at that hour! So I decided to quit…or did I?

Solution: No! I refuse to be a victim, especially a victim of my own beliefs. I am a woman of my word, and I initiated a pattern of rising each day at 5:25 am, just before my alarm rang. If others can do it, so can I.

I began my daily regime Monday, November 3. All went well for two days, or almost well. Did I declare victory? No!

Problem: I couldn’t do it! When I sat down in my office to write, my eyes closed, my breathing slowed, and I was in danger of falling back asleep. This was NOT working, so I decided to quit…or did I?

Solution: No! I realized that I do better when I keep moving upon rising, not sit. Still making decisions based on my commitment to my book, I adjusted my writing schedule. I now prepare a cup of tea, visit for a few minutes with my husband (who is an early bird), and then hop into my exercise routine. Well, truthfully, NOT hopping; I don’t hop at that hour. But I do my work out, have breakfast, clean up, and THEN write for an hour. This is working.

I am learning that the process of writing a book is much more than letting the words out of my brain. I am realizing that it’s a very deep transformational process. I am having an intimate experience with parts of myself that have been dormant or ignored. I am learning what stops me and why – from psychological and emotional fears to physical and logistical excuses.

Have you encountered these blocks? Do you have any tips for us? I’d love to hear.

[Guest Blogger] Why Are Superfoods Important?

Scientists have discover that certain foods, superfoods, are rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants or fiber which are vital to building a healthy body and a strong immune system. These foods have also been proven to lower total cholesterol, lower blood pressure, help protect against heart disease and cancer, help regulate blood sugar levels and metabolism and burn body fat.

The process of converting your diet over from one of processed foods to one that contains mostly superfoods can be daunting. As long as you are clear in your head that you are committed to giving up your old ways of eating, then you will succeed by putting imaginary blinders on your eyes whenever you see junk food. Instead, your eyes will twinkle with delight when they see heaps of beautiful, farm fresh fruits and vegetables.

Below is the list of 10 superfood groups and their benefits:

  1. Olive Oil
Regularly consumption of olive oil can help lower total blood cholesterol, fights against diabetes, osteoporosis, and cancer, and decreases blood pressure levels. For those with dry skin, it’s an excellent way to cleanse your skin, as well.
  2. Garlic
Garlic lowers total cholesterol and blood pressure, lessening the risk of heart disease. It also destroys infection-causing viruses and bacteria.
  3. superfoods

  4. Red and purple foods
Blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, grapes, pomegranates, red cabbage, red peppers, strawberries, and tomatoes. These amazing foods contain antioxidants that fight cancer, reduce blood pressure, and lower bad cholesterol.
  5. Beans and lentils
Beans and lentils, low in fat, calories and sodium but high in dietary fiber, are an excellent source of protein.
  6. Orange foods
Apricots, cantaloupe, carrots, mangos, oranges, persimmons, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and tangerines provide fiber and may control blood pressure and normalize heart function. They protect your vision, encourage a good mood, fight cancer and keep your bones strong.
  7. Green foods
Broccoli, brussel sprouts, green beans, green cabbage, green peppers, edamame, kale, parsley, spinach, and spirulina. Green foods have beneficial effects on cholesterol, blood pressure, immune response and cancer prevention.
  8. Hot peppers – sweet bell or hot chilies
Chilies are high in antioxidant carotenes and flavonoids, and contain about twice the amount of vitamin C found in citrus fruits. Hot peppers aid with digestion, an improved immune system, and better blood circulation and digestion.
  9. Nuts and seeds
Nuts and seeds dramatically decrease your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes, and reduce the visible signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging skin.
  10. Sprouts
Sprouts are a “living food” that continues to produce nutrients after being harvested. They are the most enzyme-rich food and they have a higher nutritional content than any other food.
  11. Yogurt and kefir
Probiotic foods are primarily yogurt and kefir. They increased bone strength, lowered cholesterol, create a stronger immune system, and improve digestion.

[OWWL Success Tip] Change

changeHow do you relate to change?

My sister began rearranging furniture and throwing out old magazines, evoking her husband’s grumpiness and upset. He doesn’t like change. My friend jumps from one multi-level marketing company to another when something “better” comes along. She loves change.

Change in business niche, direction, expansion, contraction, as well as in personal arenas, has entailed growth and evolution for me through the years, but with my reluctance and courage every time I left a comfort zone. What is your relationship to change?

Success Tip: Embrace change as growth and evolution, but don’t jump at each “shiny object that comes along.”

My pattern of change has been to stay with something longer than I should have, long after I knew better. But I second guessed myself and analyzed things to death. Then, when the time was right and my courage was greater than my fear, I made the change with 100% commitment, not looking back (mostly). So, no, I’m not a person to jump at every new, shiny opportunity. And, no, I don’t get stuck forever. My careers have evolved as follows:

  • college drop out
  • housewife/mother
  • college graduate with Master’s Degree
  • C.P.A.
  • Senior Sales Director, Mary Kay Cosmetics
  • Life, Business, and Executive Coach
  • Founder – Ontological Weight Loss Programs: Your Once-in-a-Lifetime Solution
  • Founder – Weight of Money Breakthrough Programs
  • Founder – Coaches’ Certification and Training Programs
  • NEW CHANGE: Janis Charlton Pullen – Mastery Coach in Ontological Wealth, Weight, and Leadership

We decide to do the O.W.L. Weight Loss Program as a couple because we both struggle with weight and wanted to be at a healthier weight. We support each other, we understand what the other person is going through, and we are eating the same foods. If you are both serious and committed about the program having a partner is one of the best tools around. We keep each other accountable, we support each other and we celebrate together.
