[O.W.W.L. Success Tip] Ready to stop the “I Don’t Have Enough Time” game?

I’m pretty busy these days! In addition to my regular coaching schedule and family priorities, I am filling two programs right now: the Ultimate Coach 9-week Weight Loss Coach Training Intensive and the O.W.L. Weight Loss Coach Certification & Training Program.

So you can understand why, when I woke up one morning last week, I did not think I had time to exercise. Do you do that too?

O.W.W.L. Success Tip: If you need an excuse, any excuse will do!

excusesYes, our excuses sound logical, especially the ones regarding not enough time or not enough money. But they are still excuses.

First, let’s get real about the fact that our perception of time is invented, by ourselves!

I remember reading in a magazine article a few years ago that the American culture is unique in its relationship with time, which is reflected by expressions that, for the most part, have no translation in other languages, such as “time-consuming, “”multitasking,” “getting to the point,” “deadline,” or “time is money.”

In contrast to our cultural beliefs, the Indians say, “Time is free”; the Africans say, “The clock did not invent man,” the Japanese expression is, “Time spent laughing is time spent with the Gods,” the Italians believe, “He who goes slowly, goes safely and goes far,” and the Spaniards say, “Those who rush arrive first — at the grave.”

What beliefs do you have about time? Who taught you those? What did it cost them? Do those beliefs serve you now? So if time is whatever you say, what are you doing with yours? Are your activities prioritized the same way as what’s really important to you? I for one do not want to be first at my grave, as the Spaniards say, so exercise is top priority for me. Well then, why not design my schedule to reflect that? If I did, I would not be saying in the morning, “I don’t have time to exercise!” Did I exercise that day? You bet!

Success Story:

I am a successful graduate of the Ontological Weight Loss Program. program! I have lost almost 100 pounds and have been living the O.W.L. program for three years, I have been there and done it and I know it works. I know that O.W.L. program works on the head, heart, body and spirit and that you can’t lose weight with just the facilitative work. (Well, you can, but you won’t change your lifestyle or keep it off.) This is where the ontological work comes in, giving you the ability to change your life to change your lifestyle.

[Current Weight Loss Journey] Lifting the weight of “Should’s” and “Have To’s”

empowermentI recently made a decision to stay at home for the holidays instead of traveling to see in-laws, as we usually do. I chose to lay aside guilt, potential disapproval, and potential judgment.

I have always been a people-pleaser, wanting to help others and putting their best interests ahead of mine. The problem with this pattern is that I don’t get my own needs and wants met, which can cause fatigue, burnout, resentment, and self-pity. Not an empowered way to live!

I have worked very hard to create a six-figure business, expanding my programs, hiring new team, and increasing my clientele. To create our 2014 goals and strategies in a powerful way, I need some down time. Traveling, living out of a suitcase, and relative interaction would not give me the clarity and peace required. This was not a spontaneous choice. There will be consequences. But it was an empowered choice.

I would love to hear from you how you stay in clarity and peace during the hectic holiday time.

By the way, the new programs I mentioned include some exciting news for you! Here’s what’s happening:

Success Story

TESTIMONIAL OF A PROUD MOM:

“When Danielle started the O.W.L. program, I was decidedly skeptical that she would stick with the program and/or loose weight on it. She had tried several programs without success and was now a little over 200 pounds, which scared us both, especially since she is still so young (in her 20s). Her dad has diabetes and high blood pressure, so she was on the way of inheriting medical problems as well, due to being overweight. In addition, being overweight caused low self-esteem and a feeling of being out of control and hopelessness, which carried over into other aspects of her life.

“Janis and the O.W.L. program put Danielle back in charge of her life and a feeling of accomplishment. Before the program, she complained constantly of being tired, of feeling ugly and fat. She had absolutely no goals or if she did would not follow through on any of them. Janis is so wise and has a wonderful way of confronting the issues without being threatening or overbearing (like moms tend to be). She also knows that being overweight always comes from underlying issues that have to be addressed first, before going on a successful weight loss program. The O.W.L. program is really a life changing one. It is not a fad diet program where you loose a lot of weight initially only to gain it back later when life gets tough again.

“Thank you, Janis, from the bottom of my heart to hand me back a daughter who now has the tools to live a healthy and productive life.

With gratitude,
~Marianne

OWL Success Tips: How to Get Unstuck Now

Are you stuck? Want to have your next breakthrough with a simple practice? The practice is to follow instructions without resisting.

OWL Success Tips: Follow instructions without hesitation for one week and see what happens

Humans try to make simple things hard; then we struggle. However, brilliant people make hard things simple. One way to simplify and to have a new breakthrough is this: Follow instructions. Whether we’re talking about instructions for assembling a toy, practices from your coach, sticking to your nutritional plan, insights from your wise inner self, or any other kind of instruction, practice FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Do you resist following instructions because your monkey brain is thinking of all the reasons why you should not? Give it up!

Einstein said…

Problems can not be solved at the same level of awareness that created them.

It is in the following of instructions that you gain new awareness.

I predict your life will get easier, simpler, and more peaceful when you let go of that resistance and just try it. Then watch to see what beautiful breakthroughs come your way.

Here’s to your next breakthrough!

My Current Weight Loss Journey: Stepping Up with a Scary Commitment

As many of you know, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Latin music and dance, which is why Zumba is one of my love, love, love movements. I had gotten out of the routine, however, last year when my work schedule seemed to be more important than my personal well-being. (Can you relate?)

Well, because of my renewed commitment to self-care, I began expanding my movement, as I have been writing lately, including the 5K in “Run for the Zoo” in May. Today, however, I really STEPPED UP!

I returned to my former Zumba class with Julie Mason, a great instructor and also massage therapist, after a yearlong “sabbatical” and in a moment of courageous self-leadership told her I would be her substitute teacher if she ever wanted me. She usually just cancels the class, feeling guilty. If I learn just one session, I can repeat it each time. The scary part is standing up in front and leading, being a role model for the others. Talk about stepping into visibility! Talk about a big “why” to stick to my food and movement programs!

Her first class to miss will be March 18. I have my work cut out for me.

Aye Yaye Yaye!

OWL Success Tips: Visibility: How it Affects Your Success & Janis in Top 1% of Coaches

Your success in any area of life depends on many factors, many which I teach in “The ABC’s of Success in Business: Mediocrity to Magnificence in 90 Days,” a coaching program for entrepreneurs. Today’s success tip speaks to one of those factors – visibility.

Visibility has risks. That’s why some people hide behind too much weight, don’t make too much money, or don’t play full out in their lives. I received notification of a statistic on February 11, 2013, that I am in the top 1% of people endorsed for coaching on Linked In, the social media business forum, which has over 200 million members! That was a surprise and yet not a surprise, since I have been consciously expanding my coaching visibility despite my fear of doing so.

[OWL Success Tips] Visibility = Possibility = Profitability

What are some of those risks inherent in becoming more visible? Judgment from others and self, fear of rejection, negative comparison, and fear of failure are some of the downsides to visibility. Some great people have even been killed! So it makes sense that hiding out would be safe, comfortable, and easy.

However, with the risks come some positive consequences inherent in playing big, such as wealth, health, fulfillment, love, and being on purpose in your life. And after all, the people killed for their big life game represent a very small percentage of those who do so.

For many of my clients, visibility includes giving up hiding, both physically and emotionally. For me it includes getting my message to larger groups of people. For many of my clients, the risks are to step out of their comfort zones. For me risk includes giving up wanting to be liked and instead being respected. What most of my clients have to gain is health, wealth, fulfillment, love, and purpose, as stated above. Ditto for me!

What does getting visible mean to you? What are the risks to you? What do you have to gain if you become visible? I would love to hear your answers posted here.
