weight of money

[O.W.W.L. Success Tip] Are you a victim of Ontological Sabotage #2?

wom500Statistics actually show that people who lose weight will gain some or all of it back; usually they regain even more! This is true even for people who have had weight loss surgery. For those with too much debt, the same pattern holds. They make significant progress paying off credit cards or other debt and then find their balances creeping up again. It’s frustrating, demoralizing, and disheartening for everyone involved. Physical and financial weight affects all segments of our lives – including relationships and health. Physical & financial weight affects stress levels and stress levels affect our weight and our finances. In this success tip we discuss weight, but it can be applied to all areas on your life or business.

The Secret – Ontological Sabotage Patterns:
Since I train weight loss coaches to build 6-figure businesses, this information comes from our 9-Week Training Intensive, “Become the Ultimate Weight Loss Coach: Unconscious sabotages every coach needs to know so clients can drop the weight forever” and from our “Ontological Weight Loss (O.W.L.) Coach Certification & Training Program”.

Ontology is the study of the whole human being, including beliefs, perspectives, judgments, both unconscious and conscious mindsets, thought processes, and emotional triggers. O.W.L. Weight Loss Signature System identifies nine sabotage patterns in overweight people. Since how we do one thing is how we do everything, these sabotages also emerge in areas of money, relationships, and career. My weight loss clients improve their relationships and their financial/career simultaneously while losing weight because they apply the sabotage shifts to other areas of their lives.

Sabotage patterns usually emerge in multiples of two or three at a time. They may be conscious or subconscious. The nine sabotage patterns can be related to food or movement, or they can be unrelated.

Ontological Sabotage Pattern #2:

A relatable sabotage pattern is a mindset called Sacrifice/Entitlement, also known as Deprivation/Indulgence. The examples here are for weight, but they can be applied to finances and other areas as well:

  • Example 1 – Holidays: We feel entitled and indulge ourselves with food and inactivity, followed by sacrifice/deprivation in January with a rigid diet and exercise program.
  • Example 2 – Diet mentality: We stick to our diet for two weeks with the mindset of sacrifice/deprivation. Then we binge or falls off the program altogether with the mindset of entitlement/indulgence.
  • Example 3 – Skipping meals: We skip breakfast or lunch (sacrifice/deprivation), then eat throughout the evening (entitlement/indulgence).
  • Example 4 – Exercise: We over-exert ourselves one day (sacrifice) and use it as an excuse to skip the next day (entitlement).
  • Example 5 – Hard work day: We have worked hard and been stressed during the day (sacrifice), so we “deserve” to have a few glasses of wine or dessert to compensate (entitlement).

The context for the sacrifice/entitlement sabotage pattern is “all or nothing, either/or.” The mindset is “I deserve this because I did that.” Or the reverse – “Because I did that, I now can’t have that.” All sabotage patterns, whether conscious or subconscious, destroy any chance of long-term, sustained success.

The Transformational Shift:
In our 9-Week Training Intensive, “Become the Ultimate Weight Loss Coach” and our “O.W.L. Coach Certification & Training Program,” coaches will learn all nine sabotage patterns and their corresponding shifts.

Here are tips to shifting Ontological Sabotage #2:

  1. Presence and Awareness – Notice what is happening, and distinguish it as a pattern, not just a random set of behaviors. Simply recognizing the pattern begins our journey to balance and health. Presence and awareness practiced daily helps my clients drop weight without changing anything else.
  2. How you do one thing is how you do everything. When someone starves/binge with food, they usually starve/binge with spending, finances, relationships, and other areas. Distinguishing our sabotage patterns in one area and learning how to transform them benefits other areas simultaneously.

Summary:
In achieving and maintaining optimum weight, we must consider this vital area – Ontological Weight Loss. In distinguishing the Nine Sabotage Patterns and transforming them, not only will our weight drop, but we enjoy benefits in all other areas.

Success Story:

I enrolled in the O.W.L. Coach Certification & Training Program because, as a holistic nutritionist, I am already offering the facilitative portion of weight loss (food and movement). I know that the emotional side of weight loss is, I believe, the most important part of the process.

I found it very exciting to experience in the clients I enrolled within the program (one enrolled even before I started the program!) the transformations they saw in their weight and also in other areas of their life. How you do weight is how you do everything! These sabotage patterns really do work in every area of life: money, weight, health, relationships.

[O.W.W.L. Success Tip] Ready to stop the “I Don’t Have Enough Time” game?

I’m pretty busy these days! In addition to my regular coaching schedule and family priorities, I am filling two programs right now: the Ultimate Coach 9-week Weight Loss Coach Training Intensive and the O.W.L. Weight Loss Coach Certification & Training Program.

So you can understand why, when I woke up one morning last week, I did not think I had time to exercise. Do you do that too?

O.W.W.L. Success Tip: If you need an excuse, any excuse will do!

excusesYes, our excuses sound logical, especially the ones regarding not enough time or not enough money. But they are still excuses.

First, let’s get real about the fact that our perception of time is invented, by ourselves!

I remember reading in a magazine article a few years ago that the American culture is unique in its relationship with time, which is reflected by expressions that, for the most part, have no translation in other languages, such as “time-consuming, “”multitasking,” “getting to the point,” “deadline,” or “time is money.”

In contrast to our cultural beliefs, the Indians say, “Time is free”; the Africans say, “The clock did not invent man,” the Japanese expression is, “Time spent laughing is time spent with the Gods,” the Italians believe, “He who goes slowly, goes safely and goes far,” and the Spaniards say, “Those who rush arrive first — at the grave.”

What beliefs do you have about time? Who taught you those? What did it cost them? Do those beliefs serve you now? So if time is whatever you say, what are you doing with yours? Are your activities prioritized the same way as what’s really important to you? I for one do not want to be first at my grave, as the Spaniards say, so exercise is top priority for me. Well then, why not design my schedule to reflect that? If I did, I would not be saying in the morning, “I don’t have time to exercise!” Did I exercise that day? You bet!

Success Story:

I am a successful graduate of the Ontological Weight Loss Program. program! I have lost almost 100 pounds and have been living the O.W.L. program for three years, I have been there and done it and I know it works. I know that O.W.L. program works on the head, heart, body and spirit and that you can’t lose weight with just the facilitative work. (Well, you can, but you won’t change your lifestyle or keep it off.) This is where the ontological work comes in, giving you the ability to change your life to change your lifestyle.

[O.W.W.L. Success Tip] Are you guilty of Emotional Isolation? It’s a Pernicious Sabotage!

expressOne of the most pernicious and destructive ways you can sabotage your success in any area is called “Emotional Isolation” or “Emotional Detachment.” I see it so often in both my weight loss and my weight of money clients. Why is it so devastating? It actually sabotages the velocity in getting the results you want in any project!

Emotional isolation means that you turn inward with feelings which may be scary. It means you don’t share your deepest self with anyone; you don’t want to become vulnerable. You don’t want to risk looking bad or feeling rejected, so you keep inside the stuff you judge as bad.

Emotional detachment is when you don’t acknowledge or own your feelings at all. You stuff them inward where they rot, rot, rot in the dark!

Emotional isolation and detachment are forms of denial of your humanity and suppress your magnificence just as they suppress your emotions. Your progress is not just about your expertise and training. If you want to really become a powerful, effective person, you will stop emotional isolation and detachment by sharing courageously who you are and how you feel with supportive allies in a safe environment. We do this in all our group programs, such as the O.W.W.L. Coach Certification & Training Program, the Weight of Money Programs, and all of the other Wealth, Weight, and Leadership Group Programs.

[Current Wealth Journey] Why I developed “Weight of Money” programs and a tip for you

Are you weighed down with financial woes? Most people I meet these days are. They are paying down debt, making ends meet, and don’t have the savings they want. I have been in that boat too. As a single mother, self-employed entrepreneur, and sole support of my family, things were really tough in the past. When I developed the “Ontological Weight Loss” programs, I realized that how we do one thing is how we do anything, and that the weight of money was just as crushing as the weight of excess body weight…and many times people have both weighing them down.

Weight of Money Breakthrough Program with Janis PullenSo two years ago I combined my expertise as a CPA and my expertise as an ontological (mental/emotional) business and life coach with my personal experience/compassion. OWL Success Tips: What Game Are You Playing?

You always win at the game you are playing. The problem is that most of us are not aware of which game we are really playing. What would you name your current weight loss game, for instance, “Fat and Frumpy” or “It’ll Never Work Anyway” or “Resigned and Rebellious”? What is the name of your current money game, for instance, “Broke and Sad,” “In Debt and Scared,” or “Miserably without Money”?

OWL Success Tip: You always win the game you’re playing.

Good news! How about if you design a new game to win? What would be the name of your new game…”Fit and Fabulous” or “Goddess Extraordinaire” or “Lighter than Air”? What if you designed your money game to be “Wealthy and Wonderful,” or “Ask and It Is Given,” or “Rolling in Dough”? Your rules and prizes will always be in alignment with the game you are playing. For instance, if you play “Resigned and Rebellious,” you will have rules like eating anything you want and prizes like being overweight. If you play “Fit and Fabulous,” you will have rules like eating only what is healthy and prizes like being slim.

With money, if you play “Broke and Sad,” your rules might be having a victim mentality and your prizes might be poverty. However, if you play “Rolling in Dough,” your rules might be to do one income-producing activity each day, and your prizes might be financial freedom.

Remember, we win whatever game we are playing, so choose wisely!
Play to win, win to play!
