[My Current O.W.W.L. Journey] Tough questions I asked myself last week

colorful_question_markI took a sabbatical last week, visiting my sister who celebrated her 60th birthday and is retiring. The visit with her and the celebration brought up some emotions: joy for her, envy, confusion on what I would do with the rest of my life, sadness and resistance in coming home and getting back to work, etc.

In light of these emotions, I realized it was time yet again to reinvent myself. Who am I, and what am I doing with my life? Is it on track or off? As I mentioned in my Tuesday O.W.W.L. Success Tip, it was time that I asked myself some tough questions.

In case you missed that post, here are the questions I asked myself:

  • If I had one year to live, what would I do every day of that year?
  • If I choose to retire in 5 years, what would I do differently in those 5 years?
  • Assuming I actually do want to retire, what would I do with my time and to feel on purpose?
  • If I believed I were enough, what would I do more of? What would I do less of?

I have some answers written down, and I will share that included in each answer are to smile every day, downsize my life, let people know I love them and care, stay fit, and publish my books.

Have you asked yourself any of these questions? Did you make some different decisions? I would love to hear some of your answers too.

transformation quote by Janis PullenWe are now two weeks into the new year and many of us have declared and begun action toward New Year’s Resolutions. Excitement and determination moved us forward. Willpower may be keeping us in motion. But at some point your willpower will evaporate, no matter how strong of a person you are. Do you know what to do about it?

O.W.W.L. Success Tip: Don’t ever rely on willpower!

Resolutions fade and disappear in a few weeks. We predictably revert back into our old habits and go surely to back to our former patterns of behavior, unless something changes. And after so many failures, we become frustrated, resigned and hopeless.

If you are to succeed in achieving your New Year’s Resolutions or 2014 goals, you need something more than willpower. You need commitment and inspiration that surpasses any temporary will. You must identify the root causes of why you got here in the first place (fat, broke, whatever). You must make peace with yourself and forgive what you have done in the past. You must dissolve resignation and replace it with understanding and forgiveness. You must find a vision larger than your resistance, get the support you need, discover new patterns of behavior that work for you, learn to express emotions and remove stress safely, and most of all learn to love and empower yourself.

I know you can achieve whatever you desire. But your work is not to be done by willpower alone. Your work must be transformation.

[Current Weight Loss Journey] Celebration of Life – Yours and Mine!

Do you know that one of the things which holds us back from reaching our goals with speed and power is the lack of celebration. If we are always stressed out about not doing enough, accomplishing enough, or having enough, then we haven’t been celebrating enough either! My birthday is this Saturday, and I’m looking for ways to celebrate. What are your suggestions? How do you celebrate your birthday?

I didn’t always celebrate myself. I always saw what hadn’t been done or what mistakes I made. When I became an ontological coach, specializing in transformation from the inside out for permanent, positive results, I learned that celebration increases the velocity of obtaining results.
